Getting to know . . . . . Emily Ashcroft
The popular forward has been at the club for 4 seasons now, and has had great success finding the net at junior and senior level. Here is an in depth look at pacey forward successful time at the club so far….
You’ve been at the club for 4 Years, what’s been your biggest achievement so far?
My biggest achievement was winning the Swindon town tournament and scoring the winning goal back in the under 16’s with Kim Dixson as my coach.
How have things changed since you first joined the club, and how did you find the transition from girls to senior football?
For me personally I don’t feel things as a club have changed but I do feel the progression onto senior football was one of the most challenging things I have done. It is challenging because you instantly become one of the young ones, but it’s also nice to make the transition because some of the older more experienced players really help, especially with confidence!
Best thing about the club?
The best thing at the club is by far how friendly everyone is, and how well everyone gets on.
As a player, what are your best attributes and what are your goals for this season and beyond?
My best attributes are by far my speed and movement off of the ball. My goals for this season is to improve on my first touch and being more clinical in front of goal.
What advice would you give the younger girls in the club, and young girls across the country who want to develop from girls to senior football at a high level?
Work hard and have the right attitude! If you have a positive attitude and work hard then you cannot go wrong, and just enjoy it really.
Do you have any pre-match routines or superstitions…?
