Getting to know… Ellie Jeffkins
Ellie Jeffkins is a technically gifted player who is a product of our youth system. The versatile defender is enjoying her second season as a senior player and was deservedly called up to first team on her 18th birthday in our recent last gasp victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Here’s a little insight in to Ellie's journey at the club…
You’ve been at the club for five years, what’s been your biggest achievement so far?
My biggest achievement so far has to be sitting on the bench for first team on my 18th birthday at Selhurst Park and also winning the Capital Intermediate Cup for the reserves last year.
How have things changed since you first joined the club, and how did you find the transition from girls’ to senior football?
Since I have joined the club I have been coached by a variety of coaches which have all helped my progression. I have realised that the transition from girls’ football to senior football is challenging and physical, therefore fitness levels are a key aspect.
What is the best thing about the club?
The best thing about the club is that it is like one big family.
As a player, what are your best attributes?
My best attributes are that I am able to read the game and technically can distribute balls to create attacking play.
What are your goals for this season and beyond?
My goals this season are to maintain my place in the reserves squad and to hopefully to progress to the first team.
What advice would you give the younger girls in the club, and young girls across the country, who want to develop from girls to senior football at a high level?
My advice would be to work hard, always listen to your coach/manager and always be committed to training sessions. Hard work pays off.
Do you have any pre-match routines or superstitions?
My pre-match routines involve eating a good breakfast and making sure that all my stuff is in my bag ready for the game.
Who is the joker in the team?
Keegan Russell and Phoebe Chapman - well they both think they are comedians anyway!
If you could have one attribute of a teammate, what would it be?
Hope Nash - to be able to lift the team spirit when it is low!
And finally… who spends the longest in front of the mirror?
Georgia Pearch – forever doing her hair and topping up her fake tan!
