The Charlton Women’s team will be looking to build on their opening day win when they face Coventry City on Sunday.
The Addicks shocked last season’s FA Women’s Premier League National Division runners up Nottingham Forest by defeating them 4-1 last weekend.
Goals from Gemma Bryan, Harley Bennett, Kim Dixson and Kristina Manktelow fired Charlton to the top of the table and they are hoping to follow that up with a win over newly-promoted Coventry.
Amongst the team that beat Forest were debutants Jordan Butler and Emma Beckett who both impressed, the former bagging sponsor PHSC plc’s Player of the Match award.
And the centre-back is looking forward to seeing what the Sky Blues are like, saying: “They are a new side and have probably recruited new players like we have so it will be good to see what they have to offer.
“It will also be nice to see the other teams that have come up and compare us to them and see how far ahead we are in terms of possible pushing on to win the league.”
With a quintet of players that played in the National Division last season with Millwall, they had faced Forest before but Coventry are likely to be a step into the unknown for everyone concerned.
Butler added: “It is a good thing because complacency doesn’t set in but it was the same with Forest. We were a newly promoted team and whether or not they thought it was gong to be an easy game, who knows.
“The Coventry game is definitely going to be interesting because they don’t know who we are and vice versa so it will be a good game.”
