The Charlton women’s team are pleased to announce that Sam Pittuck has resumed full training and rejoined training to strengthen the first team squad ahead of a busy pre-Christmas period.
Sam is an experienced and versatile player, who has played in a number of positions since signing for the club back in 2013. In that time, she has played almost 100 matches for the club and became the first female player to win the men’s club’s goal of the month competition in February 2014 for a stunner against Lewes.

It is hoped Sam, who made her long-awaited return to action in the Capital Cup against Enfield a fortnight ago, will play a part in the forthcoming cup matches, which start with an FA Cup second round tie with Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

However, head coach Riteesh Mishra  says it’s important to manager her workload properly. “I know she is eager to return, and we all are, but I will be managing her return to full playing in a periodical way,” he said.

However, Mishra is pleased to have her back in the squad to boost his options with a player of her quality. “I am so pleased to see Sam back out on the training ground,” he said. “What she has been through, and to come back in the condition she is makes us all so proud of her at the football club.

“You can see how much the girls love her being around and that is a huge thing for me. Sam just being back in training has given everyone a lift. We haven’t worked much together yet so I and the rest of the staff are excited to start working with her.

“Her technique is there, she clearly has a mentality and level of experience that will improve the group, and her game understanding has always been good.

“Physically she is improving every session, and Sam is like a new signing for us. She will be a huge part of the remaining campaign for us and we are all delighted she is back.”
