The Charlton women’s team have been handed two home matches to begin the FA Women’s Premier League (FAWPL) South 2016/17 season, with newly promoted Swindon Town first up.
The Addicks start the season on Sunday 21 August at Sporting Club Thamesmead (all matches 2pm kick off) against the Robins, who won the FAWPL Division One South West last term.

And they follow that up a week later (Sunday 28 August) with a home clash against Essex side C&K Basildon, with whom they drew in the opening match of last season before beating 4-1 at home.

It is Swindon’s first time at this level but the two sides did meet in the FAWPL Cup first round in 2014, with Charlton coming back from two goals down to win 5-2.

Charlton’s first away match of the season comes on Sunday 11 September when they travel to Slimbridge to take on Forest Green Rovers, who avoided relegation from the FAWPL South due to Brighton & Hove Albion’s promotion. Charlton came out on top both times last year, winning 6-0 in the corresponding fixture and 9-1 in Thamesmead tie.

That starts a run of four away matches on the trot, with a local derby against Crystal Palace at Hayes Lane, Bromley, on Wednesday 14 September next up before travelling to face Swindon Town on Sunday 18 September. Then comes another London derby, this time against West Ham United in Hornchurch a fortnight later.

Their final game before the Christmas break will take place on Sunday 18 December at home to Cardiff, while their first league match of the season is due to be away to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 15 January.

The second half of the season will be weather and cup dependent, but Charlton are due to end their season on Sunday 14 May away to Basildon.
