New signing Cori Daniels could not hide her disappointment after the Charlton Women’s team slumped to a 2-0 home loss to Coventry City on Sunday.
The former Charlton Centre of Excellence player was making her second debut for the Addicks as a replacement for the injured Jordan Butler and was named as PHSC plc’s Player of the Match.
But she admitted the award is no consolation for the loss, saying: “I’m on a bit of a downer really. Conceding two goals is not a good start considering we are coming off the back of two clean sheets.
“I just did what I did. I always want to start so that was great but I’m just disappointed with the loss.”
Goals from Jade Formaston and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk sealed the victory for Coventry, a team who seemed more up for it than their hosts.
The Sky Blues leapfrogged Leeds United into top spot in the Premier League National Division and Cori commented
“They were, physical and didn’t stop working and just wanted it more. I signed for Charlton because they had bundles of desire. That wasn’t there today but it will definitely come.”
