The Charlton Women’s team are pleased to confirm that Josh Oatham has been named as Development Team Coach.
Oatham assisted Riteesh Mishra and James Marrs in coaching the first team last campaign, so knows the standards the club has for developing players.

Making the move to the Development team was not an easy decision, Oatham told cafcwomen.co.uk, but is one he’s relishing.

“Things were going well with the first team setup, on the back of our title-winning season and promotion into the Championship, but I felt that this was the next step for my own personal coaching development and a great opportunity for me to work with a young, talented enthusiastic group of players.

“Coming from the first team setup, I will be looking to pass on my experience of what it takes to be an established first team player, which is the aim for every development team member.”

Oatham is looking forward to the new season in the FA Women’s National League Reserve South/South East Division with his new squad, which starts on Sunday afternoon against Watford.

He added: “I’ve really enjoyed life in my new role. The players have been first class with their attitude and application, with some big changes to our approach on and off the pitch.

“My number one focus is to develop every player individually, in order for them to progress and fulfil their full potential. This will help to produce players that are equipped with the tools necessary to be successful at first team level.

“As a squad, I want us to consistently demonstrate our high standards both in training and with our play on match-days, as this is our responsibility when playing for a club like Charlton Athletic.”
