The Charlton women’s team are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Nicole Pepper from FA Women’s Super League side Watford Ladies.
"I like the ambition that the club’s got, they’ve got high hopes for promotion into the Super League, which is where I want to be and I wanted to be on that journey with them.”
Pepper, who can also play in defence, will go straight into the squad for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur at Sporting Club Thamesmead on Sunday (2pm) in the FA Women’s Premier League (FAWPL) South.
The former England under 19 international featured over 20 times for Watford in the FA Women’s Super League 2 over the last two seasons since joining from Chelsea, where she was a regular in their successful development squad in 2014/15.
Before that, the now 21-year-old played for Gillingham before moving onto Millwall’s development team, having started her career with Charlton’s centre of excellence where she played alongside new team mates Kit Graham and Alex Baker.
On joining, Pepper said: “I’m really excited to get going now. I feel like I’ve settled in really well; when I came in a couple of weeks ago to train the girls have made me feel welcome. I feel like I’ve been here a while now.
“I just can’t wait to get going now, I’m really looking forward to hopefully getting involved on Sunday and kicking on.
I like the ambition that the club’s got, they’ve got high hopes for promotion into the Super League, which is where I want to be and I wanted to be on that journey with them.”
With Charlton currently sitting top of the FAWPL South table, the club has ambitions to play in the FAWSL in the near future and Pepper said she hopes to help her new side realise those ambitions, despite a slight uphill task, with the chasing pack having games in hand.
“I’m hoping that we can win the league and I’m really looking forward to the tough games we’ve got left,” she added.
“Every game now we’ve got to win to stand a chance so I’m looking forward to get going and hopefully helping the team secure the league.”
