An 85th minute equaliser from Charlotte Gurr saw the Addicks continue their unbeaten league run at The Oakwood, as Charlton drew 2-2 with promotion rivals Durham on Sunday afternoon.

Charlton dominated the opening stages, Gurr dribbled past the Durham defence and whipped the ball into Kit Graham whose powerful effort went just wide.

The Addicks won a free-kick in a dangerous position in the 10th minute, April Bowers floated in the ball towards Ejupi, but the striker could only head over the bar.

Just a minute later Charlton were on the attack again, Gurr’s pinpoint pass found Ejupi on the wing who then crossed the ball into Graham, but her effort was well saved.

In the 20th minute, Charlton deservedly got their opening goal, after a mix up in the Durham defence.

Becky Salicki sprinted to get the ball to prevent Charlton getting a corner, passed it to goalkeeper Hannah Reid who slipped over, allowing Ellie Bailes to tap the ball in to make it 1-0.

Charlton came close again just eight minutes later, Bowers’ corner rattled the crossbar, causing a goalmouth scrap which Durham eventually got clear.

With five minutes left of the first half the Addicks almost made it 2-0. Graham did brilliantly to muscle off the Durham defence and lay the ball for Bailes, but the midfielder’s strike was phenomenally saved.

One minute later Durham got their first goal. A well-worked counter-attack saw Zoe Ness curl in a fantastic shot to make it 1-1.

On the brink of half-time Durham took a shock lead. Katie Startup made an error and Ness was there to poke the ball in to make it 2-1 at half-time.

Charlton were in control of the second half, dominating possession. The Addicks won a free-kick on the egde of the box in the 66th minute, Gurr chipped the ball in towards Graham but Reid was there to claim the ball.

The Addicks kept applying the pressure but to no avail. Amber Stobbs fired in a cross that met the head of Agg, but the ball went agonisingly wide.

Charley Clifford sent in a lovely cross to Liz Ejupi, but Reid made a superb save to deny the December Player of the Month nominee.

Durham had the chance to wrap up the game in the 82nd minute when Emily Roberts went through on goal, however her shot drifted wide of the post.

Charlton finally got their equaliser five minutes from time when Coombs sent in another excellent cross towards Gurr who headed the ball home.

It was a nail-biting finish for the Addicks, though, as a goalmouth scramble in the 90th minute from a Durham corner saw Harley Bennett clear a shot off the line.

The score replicated the reverse fixture in September when Amelia Ritchie got Charlton’s equaliser six minutes from time in Durham.

The Addicks face Manchester United next Sunday (2pm), at The Oakwood, as they look to continue their fine home form.
