With the chance to advance to their first final of the season, Kit Graham says the Charlton women’s team will be wary of lower-league opponents Carshalton Athletic when the sides meet tonight.
The two CAFCs battle it out at Sporting Club Thamesmead for a place in the Ryman Cup final against either Tottenham Hotspur or current holders Gillingham.

Despite the visitors being two divisions below Charlton, the south-east Londoners were run close by Old Actonians two weeks ago in the Capital Cup quarter final.

Actonians, who are in the same division as Carshalton, were narrowly defeated by Charlton 2-1 and Graham believes that match proves her side need to turn up with the correct attitude today.

She said: “We’re expecting to win [tonight], we know we’re a bigger side and have better quality; we just have to take it as it comes.

“I don’t really know what to say about [the Old Actonians] game. The pitch was pretty poor, everyone was tired and it was a tough game.

“Smaller teams can put pressure on and that’s what they did. That’s what we’ve got to expect on Wednesday, that they’re going to do the same thing and we can’t go into it half-hearted.”

Currently unbeaten in cup competition this season, Charlton have an FA Cup third round home tie with Wolverhampton Wanderers in Thamesmead on Sunday (1 February).

That is followed up by an FA Women’s Premier League Cup quarter final against Brighton and Hove Albion in Lancing and a trip to take on Enfield in the Capital Cup semi finals.

Charlton Athletic and Thamesmead Town season ticket holders can receive free entry to the game, which kicks off at 1945 at Sporting Club Thamesmead, Bayliss Avenue, tonight.
