Kim Dixson believes that Charlton women’s team are capable of bringing the London FA Women’s Senior Cup to south-east London, so long as they do not get complacent.
The Addicks face Arsenal Ladies reserves at Redbridge FC on Thursday evening KO 7.30pm in the final and winning this trophy has been one of captain Dixson’s main objectives this season.
They have done a professional job thus far, starting off with 12-0 and 13-1 victories over Haringey Borough and Battersea Ironsides respectively.
They then went on to banish memories of last year’s semi-final defeat to Tottenham with a 4-0 romp against the same opponents in the same round.
Dixson will be hoping to end the season with the piece of silverware she so craves.
She said: “It’s something we have wanted to happen for the last few years, to get to a cup final, so hopefully we can perform on the day.
“We’ve always known we can win the London Cup if we perform – that it was ours for the taking. Hopefully everyone turns up on Thursday and we can do that this year.
“If we perform how we know we can we shouldn’t have any issues, we are capable of beating anyone. If we go into it complacent then we’ll come unstuck.
“We did that against Tottenham last year – we didn’t perform at all. It was disappointing because we played them a few months later at the Valley and destroyed them. That made it even worse and made me want to rectify that this year.”
Come along and cheer the Women Addicks on – Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions which includes a programme.
