The Charlton women’s team are delighted to announce that midfielder Katie Bottom has penned a new deal to remain at the club for the 2017/18 season.
The central midfielder joined from West Ham United, where she was club captain, just six months ago and has had an instant impact on an improvement in performance alongside long-serving skipper Kim Dixson, who has already had her contract extended.

It is the next step in first team coach Riteesh Mishra tying down the core of his squad for an important coming season, and Bottom is looking forward to continuing with the Addicks.

“We have all had a break which was important and needed, hopefully now can push on from last season,” she said.

“After the [4-1] defeat in my first game against Cardiff, the team has gelled and towards the end of the season we pushed forward, with the win in the [Capital] cup and the league against [champions] Spurs, so as a team the 2nd half of the season was stronger.

“Pre-season will be important for us all, in terms of our training and the friendlies to build towards a challenging league season, where we know we need to start strong.”

On next season, Bottom echoes the sentiments of those before her in that the ultimate goal for Charlton should be to challenge once again for the FA Women’s Premier League South title.

Whilst it is set to be another challenging season, with the likes of Cardiff and Coventry still setting the standard despite Tottenham being promoted and others strengthening, Bottom is confident.

“There is no reason why we can't aim for top of the league,” she added. “We have the ability in our squad to do so.”

On other objectives, “finishing the season with some silverware is always a goal for this club”, she adds. “It's just about us putting our talent and hard work together and putting in the performances to help us build that.”
