Jordan Butler has been named as the first winner of the Charlton Womenís teamís PHSC plc Player of the Month award.
The England Under 19 centre-back has impressed at the back since arriving from Millwall Lionesses in the summer and is pleased with how well she has settled into her new surroundings.
She said: “Like I have said before, the girls are really welcoming and Paul is a great manager so it would be hard for someone not to settle in because there is such a good atmosphere.
"I have had a few dodgy performances as well but it is nice to have your achievements noticed and to get something like this.”
Jordan was speaking after the 2-0 defeat to Leeds United, who yesterday went top of the table, and revealed her disappointment at the result but a determination to come back stronger.
"We had a big discussion about [the Leeds game] in the changing rooms,” she added, “and everyone needs to take a step back, realise what is expected of us and how we are supposed to put it through in the game.
“We came up against a physical team and no-one really gave it back and that affected our performance.
"Hopefully when we come up against a team like Leeds again we can do better and get some a result out of it.
“We have a strong side and I believe we can match any opposition we come up against. Hopefully we can come back after this break feeling fresh and use it to our advantage.”
It has been an inconsistent start for Charlton as they try to adjust to life in a higher division but Butler can see plenty of positives – as well as a few negatives.
“There are positives, like drawing at Sunderland and the fact we are scoring, but at the same time we are conceding a lot of goals – I think Paul said we have already conceded the same amount of goals as the team did last season.
“It is frustrating because the way we are playing we do expect to mess up from time to time but it is disappointing to give away the kind of goals we are conceding.”
