Jenny Newman bagged a brace for Kent on Wednesday & three Addicks Under 17's made their competitive Kent debuts
It was a hard fought victory for Kent over Oxfordshire on a rainy night at Thame United FC. Following the introduction of new Southern Counties Cup rules which do not allow players who have played in 4 or more FA Women's Premier League National Division matches to play in the competition the majority of the usual Kent starting 11 were ruled out as they play for Charlton. The new look team comprised mainly of Gillingham players but also including Addicks Jenny Newman and new signing Katie Hardaker plus three players from our Under 17 squad - keeper Courtney Shanly, defender Rosie Paye & winger Megan Mansfield.

Shanly made a good early save tipping a long range strike wide and minutes later made an excellent save from a curling strike from the edge of the area.

Newman opened the scoring after half an hour cooly slotting home a neat through ball. Five minutes later Newman doubled her and Kent's tally delightfully chipping the keeper from the edge of the box.

Kent had a number of chances to increase their lead before Oxfordshire pulled a goal back as their striker fired home from the edge of the area.
