Fliss Gibbons wants the Charlton Women’s team to become more consistent and turn back-to-back victories into a winning streak, ahead of their trip to Uxbridge to face Barnet on Sunday.
The Addicks, currently sitting in third place, have won their last two matches, against Cardiff and Watford, and hope they can build on that in their final four games of the season.
Fliss played down her November PHSC plc Player of the Month accolade, saying: “I’m surprised because I think I can play a lot better but it is nice to get the award.
“I am just happy we have had a couple of wins – that is the most important thing. Player of the Month is good but it is important to put in the performances for the team and to keep winning as a team.
“We have been quite up and down so far and we haven’t been consistent enough – we will put in a good performance one week and flop the next.
“Hopefully the consistency will come now, and the performances, the goals and the wins will come with that.”
As well as impressing for Charlton, the winger won her first cap for the England under 19s last month in their 2-0 win over France and is now targeting another call up with the European Championship qualifiers looming.
“I really enjoyed the whole week. I learnt so much, like I always do when I am away with England, and it was good to be involved in a match environment, as opposed to just training.
“The standard of football is so good, which is only going to make me a better player and I just hope I can bring what I learn back to Charlton.
“There are a few tournaments coming up so that gives me something to aim for. I just hope I can keep putting in the performances for Charlton because that is what is going to help me get there.”
