Charley Clifford is looking forward to the Charlton women’s team's upcoming cup games as the Addicks progressed into their first final of the season after beating Leyton Orient 3-2 in the Capital Cup last Sunday.
Clifford bagged herself an assist against the O’s to help her side through to the final against local rivals Crystal Palace.

“It’s always hard playing against a team that’s in a lower division than us because it’s their cup final. We did what we had to do and fortunately we won the game 3-2 and we’re in the final against Palace, which is going to be another tough game,” Clifford said.

“We’re the holders of the cup though so we’ve got to go into that game with a strong mentality. We want to get into as many finals as possible.”

Kit Graham scored two goals against the O’s, with Clifford setting up the winner with an inch-perfect ball, allowing Graham to volley home.

Clifford added: “She’s been on fire for the last couple of games with her scoring as well as her assisting, we know we’ve got players that are match winners in the team so we can rely on them when the game gets tough.”

Clifford is looking forward to face close rivals Palace in the final, saying: “We know Palace, we know what they’re about and it’s always a tough game against them but we’ve just got to prepare right during that week and stop them where their strengths lie. They have a lot of strengths, but so do we.”

The Addicks face Arsenal Women in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup on Sunday, 18th March. Charlton are the only team below the top two leagues who made it through to the last eight of the cup.

“It’s always good to test yourself against teams that are in higher leagues. It’s going to be a good game and they’ll be a great test for us, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
