The Charlton women’s team are delighted to announce the signing of highly rated central midfielder Chloe Brunton-Wilde from Arsenal.
Coming shortly after several current first teamers committed their futures to the club, Brunton-Wilde becomes first team manager Riteesh Mishra’s maiden summer signing as he continues to shape his new-look squad for the season ahead.

And the 19-year-old is returning to familiar surroundings, having played for the club’s youth academy at under 15 level before heading to North London to join Arsenal’s centre of excellence.

After graduating to the Gunners’ development side, the Essex-born player made 26 appearances in the FA Women’s Super League Development Southern Division, scoring one goal.

Now back at Sparrows Lane, Brunton-Wilde, who began her career in Colchester United’s centre of excellence, says she is “excited for a new challenge”.

“Being here before I know what the facilities are like and I know what they can offer me, which I like the sound of,” she said. “I know that it will be good for me to come back and hopefully help them move up and develop my game as well.”

“Riteesh… [is a] great guy, he knows his stuff quite clearly and I think his intentions are what I want to be doing as well: moving up leagues and going on a journey.

“I can’t wait [to start training]! Watching them yesterday and not training was hard but it was good to see everyone again. The girls and everyone were very welcoming.”

When asked to describe herself as a player, she added: “When I was at Charlton before I was quite attacking and pushing forward, a number 10 if you like. However, when I was at Arsenal I sat in the gap between the more attacking midfielders and the centre backs so I was holding the space, which I’ve kind of got used to after four years of playing there.

“But there’s always times where I want to push on and get forward but I think it’s quite rare to have a player that’s disciplined enough to be able to sit when they have to and I think I can bring that to the team.”
