The Charlton women’s team are pleased to confirm that Chloe Brunton-Wilde and Charley Clifford have had their contracts extended for a year, as preparations for next season in the FA Women’s Championship continue.

The news comes hot on the heels of new deals for vice-captain Grace Coombs and young striker Georgia Griffin earlier this week.

Midfielder Clifford, a product of the club's centre of excellence with over 200 appearances to her name, played a key part in Charlton’s successful season. Her well-weighted cross set up Kit Graham’s equaliser in the FA Women’s Premier League Championship Play Off final versus Blackburn Rovers.

Having signed from Arsenal at the start of last season, 20-year-old defender Brunton-Wilde enjoyed her first full season in first team football and is relishing the chance to play in the second tier of women’s football.

Brunton-Wilde originally came through the club’s youth academy before making her move to North London. Her return to Charlton came at a perfect time, giving her the chance to play regular first team football.

“I feel I had a good season, it was my first full season in first team football and I’ve learnt a lot this year. I’m so ready to crack on for next season now,” Brunton-Wilde says.

“As a collective, the successes of the club have been second to none. History has been made.”

Ahead of playing against the likes of Manchester United and Millwall Lionesses, Brunton-Wilde is aiming to make a statement.

“I’m very excited. I think as a team we’ll play better against big clubs and make us up our game. We would rather be playing in tough games than smashing teams 9 or 10-0.

“I just want to play well. I think if you’re playing well, individually and as a team, the enjoyment comes with that and the success follows. All of us know that as well and we all work so hard for each other to make that happen,” Brunton-Wilde added.
