The Charlton Athletic Women will once again be out in force this week to help promote women in sport and this Sunday’s fixture against Crystal Palace.

On Monday morning Liz Ejupi visited her former primary school, Cherry Orchard in Greenwich where she delivered a special assembly teaching children how she started kicking a football around in the Cherry Orchard playground and progressed to become a professional football player.

"It was such an amazing experience going back to my old school and it was nice to catch up with old faces" said Ejupi

"I started my football in the playground so I hope we can inspire  more girls to start  playing sport"

General Manager Steve Adamson added "We have been trying to get into as many schools as possible, so we were pleased to be able to get into a school which Liz Ejupi attended ”

“We are getting a great response as we build up to the fixture and hopefully we are having a positive influence and inspiring people to play football”

All school children were given free tickets to Sunday’s match and more visits to see young fans are planned for later in the week. Schools can get free tickets for children for the match by emailing charltonwomen@cafc.co.uk

On Thursday players will be at Crayford Station where they will be meeting fans as they come home from work. Fans can meet the players from approximately 5pm.

Tickets for Sunday’s fixture are on sale now here.
