Charley Clifford netted a hat-trick as the Addicks hit Plymouth for seven to move into the quarter-finals of the League Cup
The recent wet weather made for a difficult bobbly and muddy pitch at Elburton Villa as the Addicks took on Plymouth at the second attempt.

Manager Stuart Weston brought in 17 year old striker Dominique Harris for her first senior start whilst Rosie Paye came into the defence.

It took Charlton a few minutes to adapt to the conditions and they created the first effort on goal as Sam Pittuck fired over from long range.

A quick counter attack then saw Plymouth`s danger player Mollie Taylor break through the heart of the Addicks defence and bring an excellent point blank save from Megen Lynch.

Amy Howlett then broke clear down the right flank before cutting in a narrowly firing an effort just wide of the upright.

Howlett was then fouled and from Charley Clifford`s free-kick a good downward header from Dominique Harris brought a good save from Plymouth keeper Michaela Phillips.

The Addicks were now beginning to dominate the play and a powerful strike from leading scorer Kit Graham forced Phillips to make another excellent save.

Sam Pittuck then met a cross with a great volley which Phillips managed to claim at the foot of her post.

Plymouth hit back and a shot from Taylor was parried by Lynch but the striker then fired the rebound wide of the target.

On 22 minutes Charlton finally broke the deadlock as a measured through ball from Graham found Stef Simmons who cooly fired just inside the far post.

Another powerful strike from Graham was then deflected over the goal before Simmons and centre-back Grace Coombs rattled the woodwork.

After 26 minutes Charley Clifford increaded the Addicks lead, firing home from just inside the area.

Plymouth winger Esme Wells then fired in a cross shot which was comfortably saved by Lynch.

First half injury time saw Charlton add their third goal as Graham rose to head home Clifford`s corner.

Just five minutes into the second half the Addicks were on target again as Clifford controlled Simmons` cross to clinically finish from the edge of the area.

Four minutes later Graham squared the ball for Clifford completed her hat-trick.

On 67 minutes Plymouth were awarded a penalty following a tackle by Katie Hardaker right on the edge of the penalty area. Plymouth skipper Katie Middleton stepped up the fire the spot kick home.

Five minute later Charlton added their sixth as a high cross from Megan Mulholland was met at the far post by Pittuck with a great header.

Clifford then fired another long range effort narrowly wide before a 25 yard free-kick from Coombs was tipped wide by Phillips.

Four minutes from time Graham added her second, beating a defender and then lobbing the ball home.

The Addicks now go into the quarter-final draw with CK Basildon, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City, Brighton, Portsmouth and Sheffield. The draw will be made on 8th December and matches will be on 1st Feb.
