A brace from Gemma Shepherd plus goals from Sam Pittuck and Clare Rogers saw the Addicks to an impressive win over Portuguese Premier League side Belenenses
On a hot sunny Sunday afternoon at Browns Club in Portugal the Addicks started brightly against a good Belenenses team.

Charlton opened the scoring after 8 minutes when a great through ball from right-back Ruby Southgate picked out Gemma Shepherd who rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into an empty net.

The Addicks then forced two corners with skipper Katie Flack heading the second narrowly over the crossbar.

Charlton then suffered a major blow when midfielder Jenny Newman fell alkwardly injuring her knee and was stretchered off.

The team reorganised with Alice Singyard coming on and Stef Simmons pushing into midfield.

A quick break from Belenenses then saw their number 7 forced keeper Megen Lynch to stand tall and make a good point blank save.

A powerful run and low drive from Kit Graham brought a useful save from the keeper.

On 24 minutes the Addicks extended their lead when after a good build up Sam Pittuck back healed the ball to Shepherd who picked her spot curling the ball into the far corner.

Belenenses hit back and a high cross into the box was headed over the crossbar.

A measured pass from Charley Clifford then picked out Stef Simmons who sent a shot from the edge of the area dipping inches over the crossbar.

The final action before the break saw Simmons send over a teasing cross that the keeper parried under pressure from Sam Pittuck before a defender cleared the danger.

The Addicks continued to have the upper hand after the break and a powerful 30 yard strike from Kit Graham was fumbled by the keeper who then reclaimed the ball.

Graham then set up Pittuck who made a neat turn before firing in an effort that crashed off the upright.

A through ball from Shepherd then sent Pittuck clear and the striker lobbed the keeper only to see the ball go agonisingly wide.

From a Clare Rogers corner Graham then saw her goalbound header saved by the keeper.

The Addicks then added a third goal as Pittuck hit a superb shot on the turn from 25 yards that flew over the stranded keepers head.

Graham then met another Rogers corner with a header that brought an excellent diving save from the keeper.

Some excellent build up play saw Charlton hit a fourth goal as Emma Harrisons cross was finished with a thunderous strike from Rogers into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

Graham then fored over the target from 18 yards and Gemma Hyland sent a low effort just past the foot of the post.

The final action of the game was an Addicks free-kick after a foul on Rogers which Graham sent narrowly past the upright.

Charlton Team: Lynch, Southgate, Flack, Coombs, Simmons. Harrison, Clifford, Graham, Newman, Pittuck, Shepherd.
