The Development Team fought back twice from being a goal down to clinch a deserved League Cup victory against Premier Division Aylesford
Both teams took time to settle in the blustery conditions at Aylesford Recreation Ground.

It was the Addicks who carved out the first real chance as a long ball out of defence from Sharna Giordani picked out Eliz Ibrahim who cut in from the right flank to shoot narrowly past the far post.

Aylesford then won possession from a goalkick and their centre-forward shot over the bar with only keeper Fern Firkins to beat.

Addicks striker Issy Hunter then set up a quick counter attack and fed the ball to Ibrahim who forced keeper Sara McFadden to save her lofted 30 yard effort.

Skipper Beth Rodger then made a strong run from deep in her half and her final through ball was cut out by some great defending.

Aylesford hit back and a low snap shot from the edge of the area from an Aylesford striker flew wide of the goal.

In the final action of the half a superb long range strike from Rodger was then tipped past the post by keeper McFadden.

Aylesford took an early 2nd half lead as the Addicks defence failed to clear their lines and a low driven cross fell to their striker who fired home from 6 yards.

Charlton then pushed forward and a right-wing cross from Annie Morrison was met first time by Issy Hunter who saw her volley fly inches wide.

The Addicks were rewarded when a high ball into the area was stabbed home by Ibrahim at the second attempt for the equaliser.

However their joy was short lived as a minute later a defensive mix up presented the Aylesford centre-forward with an easy chance to convert to regain the lead.

A good strike from Hunter was then well held by keeper McFadden before a mis-kick from Addicks custodian Fern Firkins in the windy conditions fell to a striker who blasted the ball high over the target.

The Addicks then began to take control of the game and chasing from Rodger saw the homeside desperately clear the ball for a corner. From the resulting flag kick Rodger headed narrowly wide.

The pressure finally told when Leigh Houlihan headed home Georiga Richards free-kick for a deserved equaliser and her first Addicks goal.

Spurred on by this and seeing the home side tiring Charlton continued to press forward and minutes later Ibrahim made a great run down the left flank before cutting in a calmly slotting the ball past the onrushing keeper to put the Addicks ahead for the first time in the game.

Ibrahim the sent over another excellent cross but Morrison saw her header saved by the keeper.

The final action of the game almost saw Charlton add a fourth goal as Houlihan latched onto another Ibrahim cross only to see her effort hit the foot of the post.

The Addicks will face another Premier Division side Bexhill United away on 1st December

Team: Firkins, Houlihan, Giordani (Hinds 10mins), Richards, Mitchell, Hewett-Brown, Morrison, Feasey, Ibrahim, Rodger, Hunter
