Our U16s, U13s & U11s all progressed through to the next round of the Capital Cup and the U13s also won in the league
Tottenham 0 Charlton U16s 3
The under 16s had a competitive game against Tottenham away.
Charlton started very brightly with the goal coming in the first 10 minutes with Hannah winning possession off the Tottenham right back who received the ball from a goal kick and Hannah drilled it in to make in 1-0.
Charlton then spurned a few more opportunities to increase their lead in the first 20 minutes with Lucy and Beth coming close.
Tottenham started to get back into the game and creating a few half chances. Charlton’s goal keeper Rebecca was called into action when a ball wasn’t cleared and she made a point blank save with one hand to keep the score 1-0.
The second half was action packed with goals, a penalty and contentious decisions for both sides.
Tottenham were awarded a penalty which was very controversial. A scuffed clearance from Charlton went up high in the air and Tia headed clear, with no Tottenham player appealing the referee awarded a penalty saying Tia used her hand to clear leaving everyone confused by the decision. After much debate and arguing Tottenham took the penalty and it hit the post and went wide.
The game got very scrappy after this and Charlton needed another goal to calm the game. Great running from Lauren down the right with the ball and with an excellent cross found Beth back post unmarked to slot home to make it 2-0.
Charlton then wrapped up the points with Beth shooting from the edge of the box which sailed over the goal keeper to make it 3-0.
The last action of the game was a collision between two Charlton players, Lauren and Lucy with both player needing a few minutes to recover.
Charlton’s defence was rarely tested with Olivia and Ellie holding firm at the back with Rebecca in goal doing well when called upon. Not Charlton’s best performance but ground out the win in tough circumstances and to go into the next round of the cup.

We are at home to Old Actonians in the next round.
Long Lane 1 Charlton U13s 1 - Charlton win 4-2 on penalties
The under 13s had local rivals Long Lane in the Capital girls cup. With some of the girls knowing each other, it was always going to be a competitive game.
First half was very tight with Charlton keeping the ball well but not finding that final pass to open the scoring and Long Lane relying on long throws into the box but Charlton defended them well.
The second half sprung into life when Charlton’s midfielder Millie`s long ball over the defence found Grace L and with a fine finish from a tight angle made it 1-0.
Charlton were then put under after this from long throws and corners in the box. One throw in they failed to clear and Long Lane scored to take the game into extra time.
7 minutes each way in extra time was tight once again with not many chances for either side. So the game went into penalties. Charlton won 4-2 and didn’t miss a penalty with Grace L, Faith, Megan W and Millie all comfortably scoring. Eleanor made a fine penalty save to clinch the match. The girls dug deep and finally got the result and into the next round of the cup.

Charlton U13s 5 Hampstead 3 (League)

With two games in two days coach Megen Lynch rested some players on both days so that all the squad got game time.
Charlton got off the mark slowly in this match with Hampstead taking the lead but Jodie soon levelled the scores.
After that Charlton had the upper hand with Megan H netting a brace and other goals coming from Faith & Grace F.
