Second-half goals from Kit Graham, Nikita Whinnett and Gemma Shepherd saw the Addicks to a comfortable win against Copsewood on Sunday at Kenilworth Town FC.
They Charlton Women`s team played their first league game since before Christmas on Sunday and comfortably took all 3 points to keep up the pressure on the teams at the top of the table.

On a very muddy pitch conditions were made even more difficult by rain and the blustery conditions which at one point saw the home side`s goal blown over.

Kicking into the wind the Addicks took control of the game from the start with an early dangerous cross from Stef Simmons posing problems for the home defence.

Charlton forced a couple of early corners which were cleared before a shot from Simmons brought a save from Copsewood keeper Hannah Jones.

Skipper Kim Dixson then gave away possession on the sticky surface but striker Nicola Foskett`s low strike was well saved by Megen Lynch.

Good play down the left flank between Simmons and Katie Flack then saw Simmons cross parried by the keeper before Gemma Shepherds shot from the rebound was deflected over the goal.

Simmons was a constant threat down the left flank and another of her crosses was volleyed wide by Shepherd.

The final action of the half saw Shepherd`s shot on the turn well saved by keeper Jones.

After the break, with the wind at their backs, Charlton continued to dominate penning the homeside into their own half.

Another teasing left wing cross from Simmons was parried by the keeper and claimed at the second attempt.

After 50 minutes Charlton finally got the reward their pressure deserved as Kit Graham`s powerful 30 yard strike flew into the bottom corner of the goal. Shortly after that the home sides goal blew over.

Shortly after a clearance from the home defence was met by centre-back Grace Coombs who sent a long range effort dipping inches over the crossbar.

The Addicks were now beginning to find their range and another stringing long range effort from Graham brought a good save from Jones.

On 67 minutes Charlton added a second when Shepherd threaded the ball through to PHSC Player of the match Nikita Whinnett to fire home from 6 yards.

Two minutes later it was 3-0 as Shepherd was brought down in the area and got up the fire home the resultant spot kick.

Substitute Katie Hardaker then saw her effort deflected wide before Whinnett forced another useful save from Jones down at her near post.

An overhead kick from Shepherd flew narrowly wide before another long range strike from Coombs was parried by Jones and then cleared.

The final action of the game saw Hardaker come within inches of adding a fourth as her effort from the edge of the area crashed off the crossbar.
