Two goals from Kris Manktelow were not enough to claim cup win over the Lionesses
Charlton made a good solid start to the game passing the ball well and dominating possession. A goal from Krissy Manktelow half way through the first half was just reward for Charlton’s dominance in the first half.

Charlton started well in the second half creating chances but not taking them but after 70 minutes Krissy Manktelow converted a well worked opportunity to put Charlton two up.

Once the goal went in Charlton seemed to take their foot of the pedal and let Millwall back into the game.

Millwall scored a goal in the 75th minute from a looping effort from the right back that dropped in the goal just under the cross bar. This goal gave Millwall a new lease of life and put Charlton on the back foot.

With about 82 minutes on the clock Millwall hit along range free kick that flew into the back of the Charlton net taking a deflection on the way which gave Millwall the equaliser.

Bill Long the Charlton manager said after the game “it feels like a defeat today even though it was a draw. We created a lot of chances in the first 70 minutes of the game and should have been out of sight. But credit where credit is due Millwall never gave up and came back at us and got a draw. Yes overall I am disappointed but hopefully we will go through to the next stage of the cup”
