Goals from Gemma Shepherd & Gemma Bryan saw the Addicks to victory in a testing friendly against Southern Division new girls Lewes
With a number of the first team squad unavailable due to holidays, work commitments & injury the match gave the remainder of the squad good playing time in the hot and sunny conditions on the South coast.

On a superb playing surface it was the home side that opened the scoring early on with a well struck long range effort from the left-back which dipped into the top corner of the goal.

Charlton then began to get into their stride and strikers Shepherd and Bryan combined well with the latter sending a low drive wide of the target.

The Addicks were soon on level terms when a header from Shepherd was well saved by the keeper who could do nothing as the striker latched on to the rebound to tuck the ball home.

Shepherd almost gave the visitors the lead minutes later latching on to a headed clearance and sending a lob over the bar.

Defender Sinead Boyer then sent a long range strike sizzling over the home crossbar.

A mistake by Addicks centre-back Megan Chandler then gave possession to a Lewes striker who fired wide.

A powerful run at the home defence from Kit Graham saw the youngster force the Lewes keeper to make a good save.

Graham then turned provider clipping the ball over the home defence to pick out Bryan who was fouled just outsude the area by the keeper. Bryan`s powerful free-kick was deflected off the defensive wall and saved by the keeper.

Fliss Gibbons then crossed from the left flank for Bryan to set up Graham whose powerful drive was blocked by a defender.

Lewes broke quickly and a teasing left wing cross picked out a striker at the far post but Boyer was on hand to make a superb block.

The final action of the half saw Shepherd thread the ball through to Bryan who was foiled by a point blank save by the keeper.

Bryan was quick to pounce on a defensive mistake early in the second half only to clip the ball over the bar.

The Addicks took the lead when Bryan superbly turned her marker and was brought down in the box. Bryan powerfully fired home the resultant spot kick.

Graham then sent another long range effort drifting narrowly wide before Shepherd had another effort deflected wide.

Shepherd then forced the home keeper to save just under her crossbar before midfielder Liz Ejupi sent an effort wide.

Lewes searched for an equaliser and a long range strike from a midfielder forced Megen Lynch to make a comfortable save.

An excellent run down the right flank from Courteney Gibson saw her send over a cross which was met first time by the right-foot of Fliss Gibbons with the ball dipping inches over.

The lively Lewes centre-forward then fired in a shot which Lynch parried & then claimed.

The final action of the game saw a neat turn from Graham just outside the area draw a foul. The teenager took the free-kick and her powerful strike went narrowly wide.
