Charley Clifford`s last-minute winner ensured a victory for the Charlton Women, who edged out Crystal Palace 2-1 at The Oakwood on Sunday.
Clifford`s strike, six minutes into stoppage time, coupled with a lovely finish from Liz Ejupi early on ensured the points for the Addicks who continue their unbeaten streak in Crayford.
The first half was dominated by Charlton pressure, with the first real chance coming from Charlotte Gurr with a shot from outside the box from 20 yards out.
The dominance paid off when a loose ball fell to Ejupi, who finished comfortably past Shanell Salgado in the 14th minute.
Palace tried to force their way back into the tie, winning two corners in quick succession but they could not trouble goalkeeper Katie Startup.
Palace`s goal came right before half-time as the ball fell to defender Jordan Butler who, after a scrappy affair in the box, managed to poke home for the Eagles, to go into the interval level.
The start of the second half was a much more even affair, with chances coming at both ends of the pitch. The main of which came from Lily Agg playing a wonderful ball into Ejupi who couldn`t quite finish thanks to Salgado`s goalkeeping.
The last 20 minutes were all Charlton with Palace not really having a sniff at the ball until Ciara Watling played a dangerous corner into Hannah MacKenzie to head just over Startup`s crossbar.
The last action of the match was an astonishing dramatic, as Charlton won a free kick 20 yards out. The set piece fell loose in the Palace box for substitute Clifford, who managed to slam it home for the Addicks to win it right at the death.
The win moves the Addicks back up to third place in the Championship, just three points behind leaders Manchester United. Next Sunday, we travel to the East Midlands to take on Leicester City.
