A bullet header from right-back Sinead Boyer clinched the points following Gemma Bryan`s first half strike as the Addicks claimed an important win against Cardiff on Sunday.
After picking up only two points out of the last possible twelve the Addicks claimed an important three points against Cardiff at Bayliss Avenue.
On a cold, dull, rainy afternoon it was Charlton who created the first real chance as Gemma Bryan neatly turned as she received the ball and sent a shot narrowly wide.
Cardiff hit back and with the home defence playing Gwen Harries on-side the Welsh striker broke through only to fire a weak shot at Addicks custodian Megen Lynch.
On 15 minutes a quick Charlton break saw Kit Graham ride a tackle before feeding the ball through to Gemma Bryan who cut into the box and fired low into the far corner to open the scoring.
Minutes later Bryan won a corner and from Toni Alden`s flag kick Graham set up Ellie Bailes but the midfielder`s shot was comfortably saved by Cardiff keeper Rhian Nokes.
A quick Cardiff counter attack was then foiled by left-back Toni Alden who made a superb block tackle as a Cardiff striker shot.
In the final 15 minutes of the first half Cardiff gained the upper hand and Harries was unlucky when her high looping shot came down on the roof of the goal. Harries then went close again with a free-kick which flew inches wide.
Addicks centre-back Becky Duggan then made a fine intercepting tackle to halt Nicola Cousins before keeper Lynch came out well to close down Harries.
The final action of the half saw goalscorer Bryan make a powerful run at the Cardiff goal only to shoot wide.
Cardiff started the second half on the attack with Harries again proving the danger. The striker first curled a shot wide before forcing Lynch to make a fine fingertip save.
Charlton then got into their stride and Courteney Gibson pulled a cross back to skipper Kim Dixson who fired over.
Dixson then picked out Fliss Gibbons and from the winger`s teasing cross Bailes headed over the target.
On 65 minutes the Addicks increased their lead when a shot from Gemma Bryan was cleared by a defender only to strike Sinead Boyer on the head and fly into the goal.
Cardiff then pushed forward and Lynch made a superb point blank save before Duggan made a crucial block on the edge of the area.
Bailes then burst through from midfield only to see her shot deflected for a corner. Cori Daniels header from the resulting corner was cleared and Alden latched on to the ball firing a shot at the keeper.
A foul by Duggan then presented Cardiff with a free-kick but keeper Lynch was equal to the challenge and tipped Harries goalbound strike on to the crossbar.
The final few minutes saw 16 year old Mia Sellar come on to make her senior debut.
Charlton went close to adding a third as Gibbons just failed to connect with Bryan`s cross.
PHSC plc Player of the match Cori Daniels then sent two headers from consecutive corners flashing past the upright.
Cardiff continued to push for a consolation and the final action of the game save Lynch save low from striker Harries.
