The Charlton women’s team made an impressive start to their pre-season campaign, defeating FAWPL South East Division One side Ipswich Town 13-1 at Sporting Club Thamesmead on Sunday.
The Addicks made a blistering start, with striker Sam Pittuck putting them 2-0 ahead after just five minutes with two one-on-one finishes. After Ipswich’s right winger had pulled a goal back with a cool finish, Pittuck struck again to bag her hat-trick.

Strike partner Gemma Shepherd, on her return from almost a year out with an ACL injury, then converted a brace of penalties before Pittuck hit her fourth and Charlton’s sixth just before the interval.

Last season’s Player of the Year Kit Graham, after a first half of being frustrated by the Ipswich goalkeeper and the woodwork, made it seven before substitute Katie Hardaker slammed home a close-range volley.

Shortly after the hosts had hit the double figure mark thanks to two Emma Harrison goals. A thunderbolt of a 30-yard strike from Charley Clifford made it 11, the last four of those coming in a time period of just four minutes.

Graham completed the rout with one-on-one finishes in the 73rd and 89th minute, with the game being called to a close directly after the 13th of Charlton’s goal as Ipswich’s keeper, who we wish a speedy recovery, had to be stretchered off.

Charlton: Lynch, Southgate (Richards), Simmons (Nash), Flack, Coombs (Singyard), Clifford (Hardaker), Rogers (Harrison), Newman (Cole), Graham, Shepherd (Blowers), Pittuck.
