A Stef Simmons goal saw Charlton inflict a first league defeat of the season on Lewes to move up to second spot in the league
On a warm Autumn afternoon on a pitch covered in leaves the Addicks started brightly with Lauren Parsons sending over a cross which was volleyed narrowly over at the far post by Hannah Nebbitt.
A fine run from Georgia Pearch saw the full-back send a long range effort flashing past the far post.
The visitors won a free-kick and their powerful strike was well saved and then pushed away by Addicks custodian Kelly Cooper.
A strike from midfielder Daisy Monaghan was comfortably gathered by the Lewes keeper.
The final few minutes of the half saw the Addicks press for the opening goal with Hannah Nebbitt sending a low effort inches wide & Ellie Jeffkins 25 yarder flew past the upright.
Half-time came without either team being able to break the deadlock.
The second half saw a welcome return to action after a long-term injury for Stef Simmons who made an immediate impact by opening the scoring with her first touch after the keeper had parried a powerful Lauren Parsons strike.
Lewes immediately hit back with a period of pressure which saw keeper Kelly Cooper make a great low save and then Keegan Russell cleared the ball off the goal-line.
Cooper was soon in action again firstly claiming a shot that was straight at her and then saving a goalbound header.
A mistake from centre-back Abbie Measures presented Lewes with a great chance to level but superb tracking and a tackle from Hope Nash together with another fine save from Cooper denied them a goal.
Charlton were tiring in the closing stages & Cooper was forced to pull off another flying save.
The final action of the game however came from the Addicks as Darcey Wells forced a defender into conceding a corner which was headed over from close range by Catharine Krystecki.
Charlton: Cooper, Nash, Russell, Measures (Wells 72mins) Pearch, Jeffkins (Simmons 46mins) Monaghan, Jackson (Krystecki 60 mins), Dunne, Nebbitt, Parsons
