The Reserves maintained their spot at the top of the FA Women`s Premier Reserve South League with a narrow victory against Gillingham
The Reserves adopting a new formation totally dominated play against Gillingham at Sparrows Farm, University of Greenwich on Sunday but had to wait till late in the second half for the all important goal.

Goalkeeper Alex Baker was a virtual spectator as the Addicks took control from the kick-off. With five in midfield Charlton out numbered the visitors in the middle of the park and dominated possession for long periods.

However teenage striker Eliz Ibrahim was often left to press the Gills defence on her own with support slow to arrive and when the Addicks did break into the penalty area their efforts were off target or straight at Gills custodian Courtney Shanly.

In the second half when the Addicks pressed the Gills defence they looked far more dangerous but they had to wait until the 75th minute for the goal their play deserved. With the midfield pressing forward Olivia Cole played the ball through to Francesca Tye who clinically drilled the ball home from 6 yards.

The final stages of the match saw the Addicks pushing to add to the score and a quick break from Emma Harrison set up the tireless Gemma Hyland whose shot curled narrowly over the crossbar.

Although the performance deserved a far more conclusive scoreline the victory keeps the Addicks Reserves top of the league with closest rivals Brighton dropping two points as they drew with West Ham.

Reserves Line Up:- Baker, Southgate, Singyard, Houlihan, Searle, Rogers, Tye, Hyland, Simmons (Mulholland 52), Cole (Shields 77), Ibrahim (Harrison 58)
