The Addicks paid dearly for a poor start as they conceded two self-inflicted goals in the first five minutes against Leeds, who went top of the table with this victory.

With seven players unavailable;  Emma Beckett, Charley Clifford, Toni Alden, Stef Simmons and Liz Ejupi through injury and Cori Daniels and Harley Bennett due to personal commitments, Technical Director Paul Mortimer was forced to shuffle his line-up. Jordan Butler returned from injury whilst new signing Meghan McKeag and youngsters Kit Graham and Mia Sellar received their first senior call-ups.

The home side opened the scoring after three minutes when Jordan Butler uncharacteristically lost possession of the ball to Leah Galton who squared the ball for Clare Sykes to fired home from the edge of the area.

Just two minutes later Leeds increased their lead as Fliss Gibbons playing in an unfamiliar left-back role, played Leah Galton onside and her England U19 team mate rounded keeper Megen Lynch before slotting the ball into an empty net.

Leah Galton was a constant threat down the left flank and she then crossed for skipper Clare Sykes who this time fired over the target.

Charlton then mustered their first chance of the game as 16 year old Kit Graham, making her first team debut, struck an effort from long range which keeper Juliana Draycott comfortably gathered.

The Addicks were then forced to replace Butler and yet again shuffle the line-up with Courteney Gibson moving to full back and substitute Ellie Stenning  coming into midfield. Further injury problems came for the team as Stenning was substituted just six minutes later with a head injury.

Leeds could have extended their lead further as Emma Johnson threaded her way through the visitors` defence but good work from Lynch forced her to pull her shot wide.

An early second half attack from Leeds saw Galton bring a good save from Lynch.

Teenager Graham then replied by sending another 20 yard effort narrowly wide of the upright.

Lynch was then in action again firstly tipping an effort from Carey Huegett round the post and then saving well from Galton.

Ellie Bailes then broke clear down the right flank and sent over a cross which Jenny Newman struck first time sending the ball narrowly wide.

As Charlton pressed for a goal they lost possession and Huegett found Galton who finished low into the far corner after 87 minutes.

Leeds substitute Tanya Rich was denied a further goal in the last minute as Lynch pulled off another fine save.

Charlton - Lynch, Boyer, Butler (Stenning 26 (Sherwood 32)), Duggan, Gibbons, Dixson, Gibson, Bailes, Graham, Newman, Bryan.
Subs not used - McKeag, Sellar
