Charlton Women`s league title hopes took a knock on Tuesday evening in a drab 0-0 draw against the Hammers
One a hard bumpy Aveley FC pitch is was difficult to play good flowing football and after a hard fought win against Portsmouth on Sunday the game came to soon.
The Addicks had the chances in the first half to wrap the game up but a combination of poor finishing and good saves from Hammers keeper Nikki Duncan saw no goals.
An early shot on the turn from Kit Graham dipped over the bar before a long range strike from Charley Clifford was easily claimed by Duncan.
A rasping drive from Graham from an acute angle was then superbly saved by Duncan before Grace Coombs saw her goalbound effort blocked.
Addicks custodian Megen Lynch did well to safely claim a West Ham corner.
Graham then turned provider and threaded a ball through to Nikita Whinnett who outpaced the Hammers defence before shooting over the target.
Graham then saw two efforts come close, the first saved by Duncan and the second deflected wide.
The final action of the half saw Whinnett chase a long ball, win possession only for her shot to be saved.
Whinnett`s constant running was a threat to the home defence and early in the second half she cut a ball back to Charley Clifford who blasted wide.
Graham headed wide before Whinnett chased another through ball which she fired wide.
Late in the game a clearance fell to Grace Coombs but her shot flew high and wide which just about summed up the Addicks evening.
Charltons tiring end of season schedule continues Sunday as they travel to Everton in the quarter-final of the FA Women`s Cup
