The Charlton Women’s team will face Premier League Northern Division side Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women’s Cup fifth round on March 11 at Bayliss Avenue.
The Addicks defeated a spirited Derby County side 2-0 on Sunday to advance and will be confident of reaching the quarter finals.

Speaking before the draw took place, technical director Paul Mortimer spoke of his hope of drawing a non-FA Women’s Super League team to give them the best chance of progressing.

He said: “What I want to do is go as far as we can. Odds on we get a Super League team now but you want to progress as far as we can.

“The further we progress, in a one-off game, I think we can beat any team, including some of those Super League sides, I think we are good enough to do that.

“I want that to be the test for us – can we go that far? That is a challenge for the girls. I don’t want to fall at any hurdles, I want to do the best that we can.”

Winger Fliss Gibbons, who has been deputising up front for the injured Gemma Bryan in the competition, grabbed herself goals in both previous rounds.

After the Derby game, she said: “I think whatever team we get it is important we up our performance. Whoever we get in the next round we will make sure we go in with the right attitude.

“Getting a lower league team gives us a great chance to go through but we just need to put in the right performance and hopefully the result will come with that.”

Blackburn currently lie in seventh in the Northern Division, two points behind the Rams but with a game in hand.

They were relegated from the National Division on the final day of last season after a 0-0 draw with Barnet.

The full draw for the 5th round is:

Bristol Academy v Leeds United
Barnet Ladies v Doncaster Rovers Belles
Charlton Athletic v Blackburn Rovers
Lincoln v Arsenal
Birmingham City v Liverpool
Manchester City v Everton
Chelsea v Brighton & Hove Albion
Keynsham Town v Sunderland
