In addition both teams had their photo taken with Charlton men’s captain Christian Dailly and were given a warm reception before the Addicks took on Hartlepool United in their final fixture of the 2010/11 season.

Arranged by club sponsor Stephen King, CEO of PHSC PLC, the event, which included a three-course meal beforehand, was a resounding success.

First team skipper Katie Flack said: “It has been a great day. We have all worked hard to get here and we really appreciate what Stephen has put on for us.

“We don’t often have the opportunity to meet up outside of football because we are all so busy with work or University or whatever. It was good to sit down together, talk and just have an enjoyable day.”

This season has been a resounding success for the Addicks, with the first team gaining promotion to the National Division and the reserve team beating rivals Millwall Lionesses on penalties in the Kent Cup final, so the day was a celebration of those successes.

“It’s great to show off what we have achieved as a whole unit – the first team have won something and the reserves have won something,” defender Vanisha Patel explained, “it’s not just one team it is both of them.

“[And] to have all the girls together has been really good for team bonding as well as anything else.”

And first team centre back Becky Duggan said: “It was good to go in front of that many people and it would be nice to play in front of that many people so maybe people can come to our home games.”

A number of under-16 players were also taken a long to the game and enjoyed their day, with Kit Graham adding: “It has been really good, although a bit nerve-wracking. Being in and around the first team has been a great experience as well.”
